Navagraha Shanti Puja in Fort Myers, Florida

A havan to the nine planets for balance during a difficult period or before a major event.

What it is

The Navagraha are the nine celestial influences of Vedic astrology: Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu. This puja honours each with its own mantra, grain and wood (samidha).

When families do it

During a challenging dasha, before a wedding or other major event, or on the advice of an astrologer.

What happens

1. Ganesh puja and kalash sthapana
2. Installing the nine grahas on their coloured grains
3. Graha mantras and havan with each graha's samidha
4. Purnahuti, aarti and blessings

I explain what each planet represents in plain words, so you know what you are praying for.
