Ganesh Puja in Fort Myers, Florida

Worship of Ganesh before any new beginning, and for Ganesh Chaturthi at home.

What it is

Ganesh is Vighnaharta, the remover of obstacles, so every Hindu ceremony begins with him. A Ganesh puja can be done on its own for a new job, a move or an exam.

When families do it

Before new beginnings, on Chaturthi, and during Ganesh Chaturthi.

What happens

1. Avahan: inviting Ganesh into the murti
2. Shodashopachar: sixteen offerings, from water to flowers to modak
3. Recitation of Ganesh names and Atharvashirsha
4. Aarti and prasad

For Ganesh Chaturthi I can also do the sthapana at the start and the visarjan puja at the end.
