What it is

Seemantonnayana is the samskara for an expectant mother. It asks for the health and protection of mother and child and surrounds her with the blessings of the women of the family.

When families do it

Usually in the seventh or eighth month of pregnancy, on an auspicious day.

What happens

  1. Ganesh puja and sankalp for mother and child
  2. Blessing the mother's lap (godh) with fruit, coconut and grains
  3. Rakhi or protective thread, by family custom
  4. Aarti and blessings from the elders

I keep this puja calm and comfortable for the mother. She can sit with support and the timing is relaxed.
